Arsenal has offered Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi a new improved deal
as reward for his breakthrough into the first-team, ESPN is reporting.
According to the fresh report, the 19-year-old sensational footballer
whose development was lauded by manager, Arsene Wenger following
Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton, is set to be placed on a new pay level
which is at par with those of his new first-team colleagues.
Quoting a close source, ESPN reports that Arsenal has put the
contract offer on the table for Iwobi to bring him in line with other
first-team squad members and the club is confident that he will soon
extend his stay in North London.
This deal follows the one that the Nigerian attacker, who has made 14
appearances for Arsenal this season and is expected to play a role in
Wenger’s plans for the Premier League title run-in, signed at the
Emirates last October.
Iwobi, 19, is establishing himself as a key member of Arsene Wenger’s
side having scored on his first Premier League start in the 2-0 win
against Everton last weekend off the back of an impressive display
against Barcelona in the Champions League.
Iwobi, who is currently away on international duty with Nigeria and
Arsenal is hoping he will return fully fit for the game against Watford
next week.
